🇺🇸 Today, RGS proudly recognizes Patriot Day as we remember and honor the lives lost on September 11, 2001. We also remember the courage, kindness, and unity that followed. First responders ran toward danger, neighbors helped neighbors, and communities came together. At RGS, we are proud to help teach our students the importance of courage, compassion, service, and caring for one another. We remember. We honor. We will never forget. ❤️🇺🇸

While riding her bike to school, a staff member noticed Aryianna stop and get off her bike to walk with a younger student who was crying and having a rough morning. Taking the time to slow down, notice someone who needed a little help, and make sure they weren’t alone is pretty amazing. ❤️ Way to go, Aryianna! We’re proud of you! 🐾

🐾 What Does It Mean to LEVEL UP at RGS? 🐾 You may have heard your child come home excited because they “leveled up!” So, what exactly does that mean? At RGS, technology is a tool we use to enhance great teaching—not replace it. Every day, our students receive direct instruction from their classroom teachers. This includes whole-group lessons, much like most of us remember from our own elementary school days. Our teachers also provide small-group direct instruction, allowing them to work with students at their individual ability levels. Teachers also work one-on-one with individual students on specific skills when they need additional instruction or support. All of these approaches allow our teachers to meet students where they are and help them continue to grow. There are also specific times during the school day when students use their Chromebooks to enhance their learning through programs such as IXL and Reading Plus. These programs assess where students are academically and provide lessons targeted to their individual needs. For some students, that means filling in a learning gap. For others, it means pushing them beyond grade-level skills when they're ready for the challenge. For example, in third grade, students typically use their Chromebooks for approximately 15–20 minutes a day for math and 20 minutes a day for reading. The remainder of their instructional time includes direct teaching, small-group instruction, discussion, hands-on learning, and working directly with their teachers. At RGS, Chromebooks don't replace teachers—they support them. We remain committed to our students learning from our highly qualified teaching staff through direct instruction, interaction, discussion, and small-group learning. So when you see us celebrate that a student has “Leveled Up,” it simply means that student has mastered a skill set they needed to work on and is ready for the next challenge! 🎉 That’s what LEVELING UP is all about—meeting students where they are and helping each of them continue to grow. 📞 Good Call Home! ❤️ Colton earned a Good Call Home today! A friend spilled their water bottle this morning, and without being asked, Colton went out of his way and took it upon himself to help clean up the mess. What a great example of kindness and what it means to be a good friend. Way to go, Colton! ❤️🐾
