Ace S. made a Pawsitive Call home today with Mr. Medley. Mrs. Stallbaumer says that Ace has stayed positive--even when working through hard math problems! He also offers words of encouragement to classmates that may be struggling with new math concepts. Nice job Ace!!

We took a field trip to the Indian Pay Station Museum in St. Marys, where the third graders learned about the history of Native American tribes in the area, along with some fascinating local history of St. Marys. A big thank you to Pam Sumner and David Steele for leading such an engaging and informative tour!

Third graders had a visit from Pam Sumner who talked about native Americans from the St. Marys area. How they lived and survived. She showed the students how they used all parts of the bison for their survival including using items like bison bones for shovels, weapons, tools, the bladder as a canteen, the pelt for clothes, blankets, and moccasins. The students then created teepees which were the type of dwelling that our local native Americans lived in.

Tayven H. got to make a Pawsitive call home today! Mrs. Aubert told Mr. Medley that Tayven has had an AMAZING beginning to his 1st grade year! He is always ready for learning, he is respectful to his friends, and he is responsible with his things. We have had ZERO behavior issues and Mrs. Aubert is so incredibly proud!! Way to go Tayven!

Advisor's Excel - Thank you again for your continued support of our SMGS Bears Family! Your delivery of essential school supplies is always a great and helpful start to our new year.

Shout out to our most recent Pawsitive Office Referral recipient, Macey Cantillon. Ms. Serb says that Macey is always impressive with how she displays the 3 R's daily and is so selfless toward her peers and teachers. Congratulations are going out to Pawsitive Call home recipient Mikael Schaefer. Mrs. Hammersmith reported to Mr. Medley that Mikael has been ready and working really hard on his benchmark testing. He has also been very responsible and respectful by pushing not only his chair but his classmates when leaving the classroom. Keep up on rocking the three R's: ready, responsible, and respectful!!

Mrs. Kerwin's 3rd graders have been practicing rounding and had the chance to apply our learning in a hands-on way today. We built a classroom-sized number line to round to the nearest 10, then worked in groups to “pop” numbers into the right popcorn basket by rounding to the nearest 10 and 100. The kids had so much fun, and it really helped make rounding click!
