National School Social Worker Week

3rd and 4th graders performed in their spring concert, American Song: A Patriotic Celebration. Recognizing that in 2026, the USA turns 250 years old! What an amazing evening and performance!

Math is always more enjoyable when candy is involved!!! Using our measuring skills to measure candy and using the data to develop line plots!

3rd graders making time for family time at Tenzi and Tacos. Special thanks to our SMGS Booster Club and El Corral for providing the yummy taco bar.

Pawsitive Call was made by Willow today! Willow has been working hard in OT! She stays on task and takes her time with her assignments. She continues to work on staying on the line when writing and is a kind friend.

SMGS 4th graders spent a few minutes playing “My Waffle Name Is…” and learning about a special project titled, Waffled! Cooking with Your Tween. Check those backpacks this afternoon for the flyer containing all the info! Cookbooks go home with students on Friday, February 27.

Dr. Seuss Week - Read Across America

Family time IS fuel time! We had an energetic and fun group join us for our 6th grade family event, Puzzle Wars, this past Saturday evening. Our “minute-to-win-it” type puzzle contests kickstarted their speed puzzling journey. There were plenty of snacks and everyone went home with a prize or two and a puzzling tips and tricks page.

It was brush strokes and family time for our
SMGS 2nd graders and bonus families this past Sunday afternoon. We read about our polar pal subject, penguins, then created some pretty magical pieces of art.

Ms. Michaela’s preschoolers visited Play Cafe this week for a story time, music and movement, and art. Our morning art is titled Polar Bears at Night and our afternoon art is called Polar Bears at Sunset. It was an engaging, encouraging, and educational 30 minutes with these littles!

Whether we are age 3, 83, or somewhere in between, puzzles stimulate our brains. Students spent time with Miss Dori on Thursday putting puzzles together with some unique twists such as using only one hand, being blindfolded, and putting the puzzle together on the flip side. It was fun building our collaboration skills, expanding our perception, increasing our focus and persistence, and seeing our confidence soar! If you have a sixth grader, there is still time to RSVP for Puzzle Wars on Saturday, February 21, 7:00pm, at SMGS.
Tiny art started trending in 2025. Fifth graders got a quick fact check about polar bear habits, then created tiny art based on this subject. We think their mini-canvas creations turned out to be pretty magical! Don’t forget Sunday, February 22 is our 2nd grade family event, Polar Pals Sip and Paint.

Ashlyn made a positive call home today! Mrs. Rabe said that Ashlyn is demonstrating outstanding compassion and leadership in the classroom. When she noticed a student struggling, Ashlyn jumped in and offered to work with the student together. Her inclusion allowed her classmate to successfully engage in the assignment. Thank you Ashlyn for consistently modeling kindness, responsibility and strong character. Keep up the outstanding work!!

Congratulations to our January 2026 Students of the Month
