We are excited to recognize the students who earned a spot on our Student Council team this year! These students went through a thoughtful selection process that gave them the opportunity to demonstrate their leadership and commitment to representing their classmates.

Students completed an application sharing why they wanted to serve on STUCO, what leadership means to them, and examples of how they have demonstrated leadership. They also received three staff references based on their leadership and involvement at St. Marys Grade School.

Finally, each student had the opportunity to stand in front of their classmates and share why they wanted to represent their class as a Student Council member, followed by a classroom vote.

We are proud of all of the students who stepped up, put themselves out there, and demonstrated a willingness to lead. We look forward to seeing the positive impact this year’s STUCO members will make at SMGS! 🐻💙

Mrs. Kerwin’s 3rd graders made ice cream in a bag today for science. They mixed half and half, vanilla, and sugar in a bag. Added it to a bigger bag of ice and salt , and shook it up!!! After about 10 minutes they had their very own homemade ice-cream!! It was all smiles and giggles during science today!

Thank you to all the families who were able to stop by the library on Back to School Night for the Annual Title Meeting. We enjoyed seeing everyone. If you picked up your packet and haven’t returned the signed white copies of the School-Parent Compact for each of your Kind.-6th grade students yet, please send these to school at your earliest convenience.

If you were unable to attend, a packet will be sent home with your oldest student at SMGS this week. As a Title I School, we want this information to be available to all families.

We invite you to read over the SMGS Title I School Family Engagement Policy and the SMGS School-Parent Compact, which details the responsibilities of the school, family, and students. In the packet, there are white copies of the compact for each kindergarten - 6th grade student in your family. Please read, sign, and return these with each of your students.

Title I - Part A of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act is a federally-funded program that provides supplemental support to students. The purpose of Title I is to ensure that all children have a fair, equal, and significant opportunity to obtain a high-quality education and reach, at a minimum, proficiency on challenging state academic standards.

The Title I program at SMGS serves all children at our school and is built on schoolwide strategies involving all teachers. You may see teachers working with small groups in and out of the child’s homeroom, working one-on-one with students, or going into the classroom to support student learning.

If you have any questions regarding the Title I program at SMGS, please feel free to contact Mr. Medley or one of the Title I teachers.
