Last week Nurse Melissa and our nursing team spent the morning teaching CPR and SCA training to our SMGS sixth graders. Building on these amazing students knowledge, confidence, and sense of accomplishment-- knowing that one day their training might be called to action and save a life. Thank you Kaw Valley Nursing team for sharing your time and expertise with these ready and eager to learn students!

What a "grand" afternoon it was! Over 300 participants packed our gym for our First Annual Bingo with Grandparents offering
up some some competitive fun for young and old alike! Again, a HUGE thank you for all on our SMGS grandparents who signed up, took a seat, and supported their grandchildren during this fun and exciting activity!! Go Bears!

It’s a “beary” happy talent to learn through play. Miss Michaela’s afternoon class spent some time at Play Cafe today.

Mrs. Aubert‘s class made applesauce after learning all about apples.

Miss Michaela’s morning preschool class visited Play Cafe today. The students were “beary” busy making bear soup, painting and drawing bears, color sorting bears, making bears from playdough, and building mountains for the bears to climb. They heard a funny story titled a bear and his boy and got to toss a bear through a hoop before they left. Everyday should be Teddy Bear Day!

We are counting down the days to our Pre-K family engagement event Big Art, Big Heart! Join us Sunday, September 28 for some large-scale fun and learning. We will be painting a suburban, a five foot duck, creating a 10 foot long mural, and more. Our afternoon preschoolers experienced painting a big, big, big stick together today and are going home with a party invite in their backpack.

Shout out to our Baby Bears/Junior Bears for their performance last Friday night! Special thanks to the cheer coaches Mrs. Hurla and Mrs. Kincaid as well as the high school cheerleaders for all their hard work in making the evening a success!

It’s always a fun day when the “big kids” come over to SMGS to hand out player cards and get our kids excited for game day! Go Bears!

Pawsitive Bear call home was made by Owen today! Ms. Strole says that Owen is a leader in the classroom. He takes initiative by doing the things that need to be done without being asked. His classmates look up to him because he is kind and patient and helpful. Way to be a leader Owen!!
