The 2026 Cross Country season came to a close yesterday at the Wabaunsee Sub-State. Out of our runners, sophomore William Wingerter finished as our highest placer at 18th, with the top 15 advancing to next week's state meet. While we did not come away with any state qualifiers yesterday, the progression this group has made throughout the season cannot be understated. Each week saw stronger races than the one before, leading up to our best collective performance yesterday. This is also a very young group, and we look forward to what they can continue to do going forward!

Our cross country athletes competed in the Big East League meet at Seneca yesterday. We had a phenomenal day of racing, as each runner came away with a new PR! These athletes also ran on this course three weeks prior, and there was plenty of improvement made within that short time.

The botany students made tape impressions of the surface of leaves using clear nail polish and tape. Using microscopes, they were able to see the microscopic stomata, or pores, that let carbon dioxide into the leaf and oxygen out. They did great!
It's been a busy week in the shop. 8th graders working on their cutting boards, Isaac and Cole installing cabinet doors and Andrew routering his dado grooves.

We are super proud of the way these girls competed today! Came up a little short of qualifying for state but fought hard all day. It was a great season for Lady Bear Golf!
There will be no JV football game today, October 12th. The next JV football game will be at Rossville on October 19th.
The 7th grade volleyball team finished out their season with a 21-2 record, season league champs and they rounded it out with a third place medal at the BEL tournament. Congrats girls!!

On Thursday, our cross country athletes competed in the Sabetha Invitational. Plenty of continued progress was displayed, and out of every returning runner to this meet, EACH set a course PR by running at least a minute faster compared to their times a year ago! We look forward to another week of progression before competing in the Big East League meet next Thursday in Seneca!
