September is Deaf Awareness Month, bringing visibility to and awareness of the communication needs and unique identity of deaf and hard of hearing people. SMGS always strives to educate our bear family in ways to promote inclusivity. This month Mrs. Kincaid read to students books that illustrated how to sign so they could communicate with their deaf and hard of hearing peers. Also, a wall board with inspirational persons who have persevered with hearing loss. In Mrs. Rabe's classroom, Mrs. Long and Mrs. Frost assist a student during daily lessons.

Heat guidelines
USD 321 Families With the extreme heat this week, we are advising families who can, to come pick up their students from school rather than ride the bus. We understand that some kids sit on the bus longer than others and want to look after the safety of our students. For those who need to still ride the bus, we will have bottled water for the students as they get on. Please encourage your students to stay hydrated and to communicate with their bus driver if they do not feel well. Thank you for your help in this matter! Stay safe!
